Hollywood dey affect you

Reader, growing up, we always had this argument on which countries were the strongest, and America always won. Young boys in JSS1-3, arguing the strength of soldiers and sometimes stumbling on google search results to back our points. I was in a boarding house, so access to phones was limited.

"It is America Joorh" was always the winning echo. Then we argued who would take the other positions amongst Russia, China, UK, etc.

I was in a lazy mood this morning and decided to see Tomorrow's War. Thank God for Airtel. I can now stream my Netflix and Amazon Prime; the last few weeks have been a mess because of MTN's poor internet data.

Back to the gist.

And I recognized a consistent subtle pattern in American movies—readiness to die for love, family, and country. Like, it is not unusual for you to see people sacrifice themselves for the good of many others in movies. They talk about their tech, healthcare, military, pride etc, and echo it repeatedly with different themes.

America has a whole machinery of different parts working to keep pride in the country alive, and Hollywood plays a significant role.

America has learnt to permeate culture and values using movies and is exciting to see.

Before Biden becoming President, people made a lot of statements on how the global force is unraveling because of the activities of trump. Still, in January, you could literally see the feeling of pride for the country swell on social media during the swearing-in.

Is there something to learn? Yes, media and PR can do wonders for your perception, which can attract value too.

What subconscious thought do you think you have about America? Reader, you want to think of something?

You don’t know yourself as much as you think. Different situations and settings will continue to reveal yourself more to you, as you evolve and grow. And I think the best way to approach this is honesty, and continuous evaluation. I started seeing #LoveIsBlindUK with my wife (post the pods sha) and the nuances of human relationships is interesting. Lol! I will never get into such an experiment sha 😂, but it is eye opening to see how cultures clash and how background plays an integral role in...

Words are really powerful. It is interesting how a teaching can shift your perspective—beyond the fact that for Christians, we believe that listening to God’s word injects us with the capacity to do and embodies the Spirit. On the natural side, hearing the right things can radically put your life on track. Yesterday, Pastor May (Our matriarch at Kingsword and The New Ministries) preached a simple but powerful message. She taught on Shame and the many ways it can play out to hold you back. How...

Sometimes, people get on clarity calls for me to help connect the dots. I have a knack for identifying and connecting patterns as my mind has a way of doing some magic (even though sometimes, I am like, do this magic for me too now 😂😭. Cos, Omo!) But that’s not where I am going today. I had one of those clarity calls yesterday. After he introduced me to what he wanted to do, I responded based on an “assumption” I had in my head about how people in the niche typically operate. Only to realize...
